There are now two interesting videos available via either YouTube or Richard Dawkins’ own web site. The first video features Dawkins reading excerpts from The God Delusion at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg, Virginia on October 23, 2006. The lecture is about forty minutes, and more interesting than I had suspected it would be.

By this I mean that Richard Dawkins is more of a performer than I had suspected he would be. He is, in fact, a rather devastating combination of fluency, sarcasm, humility and scientific accuracy. This is illustrated further in the second video, which is a question and answer session.

The session is made especially interesting by the fact that many of the questioners are from the nearby Liberty University, the institution founded and maintained by Jerry Falwell, the “thinking” man’s Garner Ted Armstrong.
