This week’s clear winner (and it is only Monday) is:
Online scams target the wealthy
Shocked and surprised I scanned the article, which began:
High-income earners are being preferentially targeted by online “phishing” scams, research has shown. Phishing involves using e-mails with links to fake websites to trick people into revealing bank account numbers.
My understanding, based on the research quoted in this article, is that people intent on committing fraud discriminate against poor people in their search for victims. What we need now is research to tell us why this is.
I would have emailed the BBC to alert them to this blatant wealthism by our criminal chums; but since this was on the BBC News website there didn’t seem to be much point.
