Hameentie, 12:50
Sunshine was still out when I went to bed last night and I woke up at 1:00 to see if it was back. It wasn’t. Nor was it at 3:15. However, when I found myself awake at 4:25 and wondering where it was, it was sitting on the doorstep waiting for someone to let it in. I did, and then fell straight back to sleep.
It was a sunny morning and I spent the whole morning with everyone else in a special team meeting to discuss the consequences of Fred’s timetabling changes. Jutta and I realised the extent to which we will have to create completely new courses and fit the remaining ones into a new logic – again. I expressed a keen interest in one day having a group of students who graduate with the same curriculum in operation as when they began at Arcada.
It hasn’t happened yet.
At midday I was at Aalto for a meeting with Kirsti, who took me through all the practical arrangement for my doctoral defence. There are many practical arrangements, from precise verbal formulations that need saying, like incantations, at exactly the right moment, to flower arrangements that need specifying in detail.
Afterwards I nipped into the library to return the three Tsuumi Sound System cds that I borrowed after the World Village Festival. Now I am walking back to Arcada in the bright sunlight when I spot a mural I don’t recall seeing before. It is a good one, which I suppose is code for “I like it”.
When I get back I will write some student thesis assessments and send the material for my own thesis publication to the designer.
