On the last day of our visit to Liverpool, we walked down James Street, and saw the statue of the Moores Brothers. Irma went for a final shopping trip to Primark and I sat in the sun outside. While I did the Windswept Man appeared.

He adjusted himself and assumed position. People certainly noticed him as they walked past. Whenever somebody dropped some money in his tin he dropped his briefcase, looked briefly startled, picked it up, and resumed his motionless activity.

Battling an imperceptible wind in James Street, Liverpool 1

As soon as somebody put some money in, and other saw the result, a small stream of people would hurry up to do it again. In the time I watched this seemed to be especially popular with small children and Japanese tourists.

You may, or may not, want to know that the Windswept Man has his own Facebook page, where you can befriend him, and marvel at photographs of him in (in)action.
