colours seem so clear
in the autumn afternoon
outlines are so sharp

even the grey stone
is a proper grwy today
the clouds move slowly

squirrels move the leaves
hunting nothing much at all

hats coats and mittens
children walk in red and blue
shadows follow them

where is the summer
gone from the world in a week
the dark grows bigger

the bright orange leaves
fallen have been swept aside
the ground is naked

berries hang in clumps
spread the grass with crimson pools
bright red everywhere
