Narayan’s, 17:30
We collect Naa and drive to Hakaniemi (to Toinen linja 3, if you require specifics).
Silva has recommended Narayan’s as the best Indian restaurant in Helsinki and we have come with Naa to test it.
It passes the test.
I take a photo of the cutlery in front of me and the mango lassi we got when we sat down.
We begin with cocktails because it seems impossible not to. I have a Narayan’s signature cocktail, Irma has an Emerald Sour, and Naa has a Ruby Fizz.
Oddly they then seem to assume that we won’t want wine and don’t mention it at all. We don’t but the omission seems odd.
Naa and I have onion pakora as starters, and Irma has chicken tikka. I have Kerala fish curry as the main course, Irma has chicken coconut curry, and Naa has prawn moilee.
The food has less spices than it might have, even though the chef came out to talk with us and asked if we would like more spices then usual. It tasted good though: less spices than on Lighthouse beach and more than you get at the Leila or Taj.
On the way out I asked if we could bring our dog next time and they said “absolutely” so at some point Shanti might get an Indian food treat.
