Irma has a relaxation team-bonding day today. She usually heartily dislikes these and I expect she will feel the same about today. I will stay at home all day with Shanti because the men will work outside our house today digging up the road, removing the old lamp post, and just possibly fixing the new one into place.

The sun has come out and man+dog wander around the garden weeding and listening to the sounds of a road getting broken up.

At one point I look at a pile of plastic bags, each containing 50 litres of soil. Shanti refuses to go out for walks. Partly she waits for Irma to return. Partly she dislikes the sounds and smells of the big machines she has to walk round while they threaten her.
