Near the highway, 16:40
Someone has begun renovating the street lights in the area. The ones in the immediate neighbourhood have stood there for at least twenty years and receive their power through overhead cables. These will all disappear in favour of ones that receive their power from underground cables.
We wait with interest and some trepidation to see how much our road and front garden needs attacking with bulldozers to facilitate this.
Today I go for a brisk walk and see a line of cables along the path that runs along to side of the main highway. I see the remains of a lot of digging. Oh dear, I think.
The new electricity cables form heart shapes, waiting for the new lamp posts to get placed on top of them.
