Murano, 12:00
We have walked down to the Spar supermarket and now we walk back towards the bridge to ”our” side of Murano. Since we last stayed workmen have demolished and slowly rebuilt the bridge. Someone tells us that they will finish it ”this summer or next summer”.
At the moment a temporary bridge straddles the canal. It lies flat in the water and rests on floating pontoons. On the plus side, this makes it easy to drag suitcases across. On the debit side, boats cannot travel under it and so some of the public transport takes odd detours.
As we walk I look across the canal at a point when no boats have crossed for several minutes and the water has begun to settle down.
I take a picture of a junction on the other side which leads down to Faro, one of the five vaporetto stations.
