The humidity struck us as soon as we arrived home. Hikkaduwa had almost exactly the same temperature as Kovalam, but the air felt dry and neither of us sweated as soon as we left an air-conditioned room.

Today I want to go down to the Village to ask how the DOP bracelets and bags have sold, but I have to wait until the main heat dies down. Then, finally, Rosie and I can set off.

Walking from The Village to Leo, for a salted lassi, we pass down the alley beside Coconut Grove, and I take some pictures. I still do not know if the Coca Cola ads “are the real thing” or painted there by local people to make the alley seem more important, more “international”.
