We have walked to the beach. Traditionally the local fishers drive onto the beach and race up and down. Alcohol gets drunk and accidents happen.

This does not happen today. A coast guard boat patrols the beach and the fishing boats content themselves with racing around about 300 metres from the beach.

The beach has huge Christmas crowds. Some parts of the sea appear standing room only. Almost all the holiday makers seem domestic tourists, who bring their own food even when they stay in the local hotels.

The beach has filled to overflowing. The restaurants remain empty. In the longer term this will not prove viable.
