The road from the pond, 11:20

I left it too late to walk to the beach yesterday. The sun felt uncomfortably hot when we returned. Today we leave earlier because Shaija wants to clean in peace.

The local elections reach their climax today with the actual voting and the start of the count. The anganwadi at the end of the orad has closed for the day to act as a polling station and the house opposite us has opened its doors to become a CPI(M) counting point and final day HQ.

I photograph some flags as we walk back from the beach and arrive back to discover that Usha has opened our yard, and the apartment downstairs to accommodate the growing number of people tallying their supporters and organising last minute canvassing.

I notice Sanu among them.
