World Cassette Week

In an article in The Hindu today, Aryan Sangeeth wrote that
October 13 to 19 is celebrated as World Cassette Week. The celebration, organised by the online store Tape Head City in the USA, features exclusive tape releases.
Most online streaming services provide compressed audio, typically ranging from 64 kbps to 320 kbps, with many platforms defaulting to 96 kbps or 128 kbps. In other words, streaming often discards subtle sonic details
In contrast, cassette tapes were recorded on reels which provides analogue sound. Though cassettes may seem inferior owing to tape hiss, Dolby NR, a noise reduction technology, significantly reduces this, and a listener may not notice hiss at all when the tape head is clean and the volume is high. Cassettes are known for delivering rich, warm, and deep audio.
Hmmm.
Tapehead City, since you ask, “is an online cassette tape store based out of Long Island, NY since 2014”. You can find out more about TAPEHEAD CITY here.
They seem to prefer their name in all-caps.
