Lighthouse Beach, 14:28

Today Kerala celebrates Diwali with fireworks that began yesterday evening and will continue until late tonight. Most shops have shut, and I go to the beach to see what goes on there.

I also spent some time yesterday and this morning playing with the camera on my new OnePlus phone, and I want to see how it compares with the camera and iPad, both of which I have used this year for these photographs.

It compares very well indeed. I take this (deliberately tourist-postcard-like) photograph of the lighthouse and it seems better than the iPad and as good as the camera. The controls seem very well thought out too. It does not have an analogue zoom, of course, so it may not work as well as my little Canon Powershot under some conditions.

The beach seems almost empty as I pull in for a plain lassi at Leo. I walk home in time for Irma to set off on a tour of the area on her scooter.

Later, as evening settles in, a massive and powerful storm will bring the Diwali fireworks to a firm end. I will write this listening to rain hard enough to drown out conversation inside the house.
