Rain rain rain. It has rained most of the night and it continues to rain.

I photograph the terrace which has now had most of the summer furniture removed. Fortunately for us and the furniture.

Later it will stop and we will take Shanti to Camilla, a local dog-loving teenager who has trained as a dog minder. She will look after her while we go to Italy for a week.

In the evening the house will feel very empty: a space with a dog-shaped hole in it.
