Box, 18:20
The heatwave has genuinely disappeared. The temperature has dropped and the terrace is covered in the night’s rain. I brush the drive which somehow collects soil after heavy rain, and pull some weeds.
As soon as work has finished we collect Naa and drive past Söderkulla to the tiny hamlet of Box, where the Box Grill sits on a corner. We have eaten here once before, after passing it numerous times on the way to Pellinge, and reading about it in a guide book.
Irma and I have Box Green burgers with fries and Naa has a Box Bacon. I liked mine, especially since I got habanero mayonnaise with mine, and experimented with mixing French’s Yellow mustard with it.
The burgers came on plates in bags that look as though Mouse and Kelley designed them in the late sixties in California. I remove my burger from the bag and photograph it, complete with sauce and grease stains.
The diner itself still has the mad mix of old magazines and motorcycle accessories as before.
