Martta Wendelin

I have always liked Mabel Lucy Atwell, since I was a young child and saw two framed drawings of hers at my grandparents every summer.
Martta Wendelin occupies a similar position in the history of Finnish illustration.

I thought of her when I stood in front of a rack of postcards illustrated by her, in the Wetterhoff shop in Hämeenlinna.
In her heyday she illustrated many covers for Kotiliesi a leading Finnish women’s magazine.
