The heatwave has set in in earnest. Just after midday it felt too hot to do anything.

The temperature has dropped a little and we decide to walk down to the sea and take Shanti for a swim. We walk down to where some boats lay moored and throw her new swimming toy into the sea. She races straight after it.

A swan occupies the little bay and Shanti watches it carefully, while it watches carefully back. They obviously decide to ignore each other, and Shanti jumps in the water every time we throw the toys. We notice that as soon as she gets out of her depth she makes a jumping motion as she starts to swim.
