Thozhichal anganwadi, 11:33
The concrete floor of the anganwadi at Thozhichal has a thick foam covering to soften the surface. The foam consists of large tiles in four colours that lock together. The tiles have a thickness of about 2 centimetres.
I have looked at them many, many times and today I decide to take a picture of them. It falls into the category of things I might want to remember some day, although I have no specific reason to imagine that Future Me will ever actually want to remember it. Or need photographic evidence to assist me if I do.
On the other hand I hadn’t ever really noticed the details until I looked at the image on my iPad a few minutes ago. I can excuse myself by saying that I very rarely stare at the floor anywhere long enough to register the details with photographic clarity, but I sit and wonder whether I should, and whether or not other people do.
One of the children at the anganwadi interrupts me before I reach any conclusion by the simple expedient of kicking me. I pretend I have a serious injury and a game begins.
