We have explored a few options for Shanti when we leave for Finland in March. We will come back to collect her, and take her to Helsinki, but she needs to stay somewhere until we return.

We looked at a place called Paws and Wags a couple of weeks ago but it seemed too much like Prisoner in Cell Block H for our liking. The dogs seemed to spend most of their time in concrete cells with metal bars.

Then someone suggested Coexistence, run by a young Indian woman called Aparna, and we visited to discover it felt like Summerhill for dogs. All the animals sleep indoors in a big house, with free access to an open accrss swimming pool.

This morning we took Shanti for a practice session and now we have come to collect her. She has played in the pool with some other dogs, and she ate with some of the others. Apparently she also trotted over to the gate at regular intervals to see if we had come back.

I photograph the pool while she roams around. She looks happy to see us but happy with her day too.

We all go home pleased.
