We have come to Vettuhura, a village on the coast halfway to Varkala, for a party held by Radha Miles, one of the people we have met through Geeta’s TGIF gatherings.

We arrive three hours early due to one of Geeta’s miscommunications but that turns out fine. We get corralled into making the punch and preparing the snacks and by the time the other guests arrive we feel like family.

The house has the kind of architecture that makes you want to move in straight away and it backs onto a beach that reminds of us, separately, of the beach at Hua Hin that we went to almost twenty five years ago.

The beach goes on forever in both directions with only a few fishing boats to break up the view of the sand.
