I only discovered curd in real life when I started staying in Kerala.

I had known that Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating her curds and whey since early childhood, but I had never really known the nature of the curds and whey that she ate. (I had known that the word tuffet described a tuft of grass or or wheat, because I once asked a teacher.)

In India you buy curd in plastic sachets just like milk, and I have it for breakfast most mornings with sliced bananas and jaggery a sugar made by evaporating the juice of palm trees.

Today we have no jaggery so I have mango syrup instead.

What do curds taste like? Slightly sour with a pleasantly lumpy consistency.
