From our back gate we can see a plot of land that remains unbuilt. Nobody has done anything with it for years. Last week a group of men arrived and chopped down all but one of the trees, cleared the tall weeds, and dragged most of the results away.
Today while taking Shanti for a walk I saw that they had uncovered this broken old gold statue: not only uncovered it but left it lying there.
We now have some official ruins nearby.
