The first time we came to Murano we rented an apartment not far from the main canal. This time we rented one further away, in Ramo Volpi. It felt a long way away as we walked from the vaporetto and over the bridges.

This morning I discover that if you turn left out of the house, instead of right, and then turn right you can walk fifty metres to the sea, which you will find at the end of the street.

You can walk off the island into the sea or you can look into the empty row of shops or the large and noisy school.
