Café Meridian, 13:45

I spend the morning finishing an instruction manual for creating a scripted garden in Minecraft; something that some of the club members had requested.

I got it finished just before midday and decided that I needed a long walk to clear my head. I walked down to the beach, thinking for the first time in a while about what I intended to do about the doctorate I claim to have in hand. Will it improve my lot by weaving some threads together, or will it weigh everything down to nobody’s benefit, least of all mine?

I sit in the Café Meridian for an hour and a half thinking about this, while finishing an old Nero Wolfe book (If Death Never Slept from 1957, for those interested in this kind of thing) that I had found at the back of a cupboard a couple of days ago.

I had read it before but I had long ago forgotten who did it. Rex Stout always writes entertainingly so the ride felt breezy and enjoyable. The twist this time involved the fact that no twist existed and it took Wolfe a (short) novel to discover this.

Book finished and thoughts completed, I take some pictures on the way out of the harbour.
