Korkeasaari, 17:22

We can find adventure anywhere.
This afternoon Irma stopped work to take a break and found a woodpecker sitting on the ground in front of the shed, looking as though it has a broken wing. As she approached it tried to drag itself under some leaves.
Irma looked it up and it seems that only 250 pairs live in the whole of Finland. We took it to the official animal hospital in Vikki to discover that birds needed to go to Korkeasaari Zoo, in entirely the opposite direction.
I sit with it on my lap in a washing up bowl covered by a shawl. It bangs around in the bowl while trying t peck its way through the shawl.
When we finally get to Korkeasaari I look over the bay to Kalasatama while Irma takes the bird into the zoo to meet the doctor.
