Home, 18:45

A day of making and painting in the continuing heatwave.
I finally painted a very old dark mahogany cupboard with the paint that Irma chose a month ago. The shade of blue seems almost miraculous in its appropriateness, and its surface appears neither gloss nor matt, and textured to the touch.
It lightens the whole room and makes the statue of Ganapati stand out rather than shrink into the dark as it has in the past.
It actually makes the colours on the statue seem brighter even though I have done nothing to it at all. The miracle of context.
