Garden, 0:12

Tonight we celebrate the longest night of the year in Finland, and so we trot out into the garden sometime around midnight to capture the view. Irma takes some videos for our Indian friends and I take some photos of the sky.
I tried photographing the garden but it just looked like the garden. To have got any convincing visual effect I would have had to rush to Rautatientori, or Stockmann, to find a place where I could get an image of a huge clock against the still bright sky.
In the north of Finland people will watch the sun sink almost to the horizon and then start going back up again without ever dipping below the horizon out of sight. I have seen that and it looks extremely alien.
