Irma found this caterpillar on a plant in the garden. I took a photograph of it, but unfortunately mine, although reasonably detailed, does not show its size. The caterpillar is both longer and thicker than my middle finger. In fact, much thicker than my finger.
And yes, those are its eyes.
I will show this photograph to a number of the girls in DGD later and they will look puzzled, as though they don’t understand the point of showing it to them. Eventually one of them will tell me that you can find these everywhere, and they grow into butterflies.
But isn’t it big! I will say, and she will shrug and wander off.
