We used to have a couple of plants hanging in baskets from the balcony. We still do, in fact, but the plants have moved themselves around.

This – an aloe vera plant – used to live in a hanging pot when it gave the impression of being a small, sad thing perpetually on th verge of giving up. Irma assisted it into a much bigger pot and put it in the sun by the steps down to the road.

It has responded by trebling its size and then continuing to get bigger by the day.
