We have decided to drop everything in order to go and visit Päivi somewhere deep in the Finnish countryside (or not – it depends on how far outside Helsinki you have to go for things to count as “the countryside”).

The weather has changed and we drive through pouring rain. We pause as we approach Riihimäki to go into Ullan Pakari for coffee and cake. The windscreen gets covered with big raindrops as we enter.

We also buy a big bargain bag of mixed breads.

By the time we get to Päivi’s house the rain has stopped.
