I have dismantled several sets of old furniture; bookcases, cupboards, shelves. In one of them I found several of these clever fittings holding legs onto removable sets of drawers.

The thread screws into the leg and then screws attach the length of the fitting into the bottom of the container for the drawers.

I have never seen a fitting like this before.
