Lighthouse Beach, 15:45

Today I have no appointments or plans that depend on anyone else. I have done the washing and ironing, and I want to buy bananas and milk.
The weather has changed. The temperature has dropped about ten degrees and the humidity has vanished. I decide to walk to the beach. I sit at Leo reading about Keynes and working my way through several mango lassis.
I watch a lifeguard diligently patrolling a completely deserted beach. This kind of activity must have a name, I think. I look up again half an hour later and watch him still marching up and down protecting nobody from the rough sea.
