Leo, 16:24
Yesterday I woke up with what felt like a cold. This morning I wake up with what feels like a full-on head cold: runny nose, dry throat, headache, and so on. I decide to do nothing at all today, since I actually have no appointments and nothing in my diary.
In the middle of the afternoon I decide to walk to the beach in search of the bananas I wanted the other day. I notice the kiosk has returned to life and continue walking to Leo. I have a book with me and I want to sit in the afternoon sun with a fresh mango lassi and/or a cold beer while learning more than I currently know about John Maynard Keynes.
I walk over to the tree trunk that has hung there for years and photograph it while nobody stands in front of it.
Just before leaving I will finally meet Alan and Lisa, two people I have seen on the beach but never spoken to. Lisa has her birthday today and Alan totters in with the cake to prove it. I join them to eat a huge slice.
I would have stayed for a second but I feel an urgent need to leave before the promised vodka arrives. They have already mentioned a nightclub in Trivandrum, and I have a clear vision of finding myself in the middle of Trivandrum at 3 am, wondering where I can find a taxi, and where the others have gone.
I will get home and spend a much safer evening reading and sipping iced water.
