This past week one man has slowly worked to clear this ditch or river. A week ago you could not see the ditch which lay hidden under two metre tall rushes and other difficult-to-clear plant life.
Armed only with a machete and a spoon he moved up and down clearing bits until he tired and then clearing part of another part.
His cleaning has revealed all the bottles, bags and (yes) shoes in the river. This morning as I walked to the Village for my massage I looked at a couple of old men going through the shoes and putting them into pairs.
