I go for an exploratory walk down to Lighthouse Beach. We haven’t really been there yet, although I have visited Hari at The Village.

The roads from Sarovaram to the beach have all been finished and everywhere has a thin coat of new tarmac. The path around the pond, which people tiled last time I was here, has now become a road for motorbikes and scooters.

I walk along the road parallel to the beach, past Lonely Planet and Spice Village, and down the narrow path to the beach.

Maybe half the restaurants have closed because the season has ended. Leo, of course, has not.
