Vartiokyläntie, 15:34

I spent in morning clearing more snow, which had fallen hard all night long.
In the afternoon I take two carrier bags of paper rubbish to the bins and then go for a short walk. Last Spring someone in Vartiokylä planted a tight row of young fir trees as a kind of fence, and they have grown into a solid wall over the summer. They make interesting patterns where the snow has clung unevenly to them.
Later in the afternoon our Ukrainian chums, Masha and Ann, will come round for tea and cakes. We will swap presents, Masha will show us her laptop, and try to teach us to count in Russian; and we will talk with Ann of the war that forced them out of their home.
