The Long Path, 11:11

Snow has fallen again and the weather forecast has changed to indicate that it will not melt for the next week. I go for a walk and listen to the strangely deadened sound-world. The air does not feel particularly cold and my feet make sounds like someone stepping onto a thick carpet.
For most of the time I see nobody. The path seems completely empty until I eventually see two dog walkers walking in opposite directions.
When I get home I will spend a hour or more clearing the drive and paths again on the grounds that they will more likely freeze solid than melt, and once they freeze they will become immovable.
