I work on Vaken and Miaaw. The new website went live last Friday and already three people have said that they like it. Or maybe four.

Irma finishes work early and we decide to go to Samudra Beach, but when we get there everything has gone. The Oyster restaurant has closed, either permanently or just until the season begins in earnest. The way it looks makes me wonder whether it will open again.

We learned today that Britons cannot get Indian visas at all at the moment, due to administration problems. So who can say that the season will ever begin in earnest?

We walk the length of the beach in search of something and end up going to the café at the international hotel at the very end of the beach. We sit there uncomfortably in the company of two middle class Indian families who work very hard at acting rudely to the staff, who nod their heads politely as they get insulted.

We sit there for one overpriced beer.

On the way back to the rickshaw we stop on the seawall to photograph the sea and sky.
