Doha airport, 12:34

I wander around the third airport of the day. I started at Helsinki which still managed to confuse me: the renovations and building works conspire to make everything completely unfamiliar.

Copenhagen felt like the world’s most efficient shopping mall. Fifteen minutes into the panoply of international brand names I came across the Lego shop. If a weary travel first came across Lego here they would assume they only manufactured toys for adults. I found all kinds of sports cars, historical vehicles, finely wraught architecture, and lifesize Adidas trainers. I finally found some Advent calendars for children.

October 2nd and here come the Advent calendars.

Five hours later and I find myself in Doha staring at an over–large and over–yellow Johnnie Walker. The problem here I will discover involves a lack of screens showing departure times. Our flight will go from Go To Gate to Final Call in seconds and we will then find we need to get a train to get to the gate.

We will just make it to discover that Final Call means something very flexible in Doha. We will sit at the gate panting for ten minutes before they call us to board.
