Meira iela, 12:25
Mr. Page, one of the most interesting book shops in the world, closed their doors for the last time on December 30. According to a translation of one of their final posts on Facebook
over these four and a half years you will have already noticed and noticed that my nature is a powerful analogue – loving near and far guests, face-to-face conversations, meetings, separation and touching. Book clubs, writer clubs, little reader camps and Scrabble matches, book shows and ball too, and they bring thousands of books and readers together, each meeting as an event.
Although I have been trying to endure and adjust myself for almost two years, my essence is really inappropriate for this time, which seems to not end so soon. So I’ve decided to close my library’s doors.
We decide to start our day there, as a kind of commemoration, and get a Bolt to Meira iela. Wandering around the area we discover some very interesting wall paintings and a shop selling fermented tea cakes that cost up to 500€ each. The actual book shop now houses Tikari skateshop.
