I stand in the garden waiting to go somewhere. The heatwave seems to have calmed down in Helsinki although the air remains completely windless and shorts still seem necessary.

The car bonnet has remarkable reflective powers which I haven’t noticed before. It reflects colours in a way that I had not expected; at least it does in this light. I stand back and photograph it and get an image that surprises me.

Meanwhile, all over Europe people have woken up to the hottest day in history while in Finland the temperature has plummeted and the sky has clouded over.
