The garden, 16:51

We have had short bursts of absolutely torrential rain for the last couple of days; once or twice a day. I asked if this meant that the monsoon would start any day and Udaya said no. It wouldn’t start properly until next month. This constituted a brief trailer.
Mushrooms took advantage of the trailer to appear like magic. Two days ago the garden had no mushrooms at all. Yesterday a couple appeared from nowhere. Today we have the beginnings of a tiny forest of mushrooms.
I photograph them, thinking that I have caught them at full size. Later in the week I will realise just how much I had underestimated them. They will turn into the redwoods of Mushroomville.
