The woods, 10:30
Two days ago I went for a walk through the woods for the first time since we arrived back from India. I took my slip-on studs and strode confidently over the ice floes.
This morning, after we got up, I went for a second walk. This time the sun had come up, although it hung low in the sky. The sky held very little in the way of clouds and so the sun shone with a piercing brightness.
I walk through the woods looking at the stripes caused by shadows. The shadows look blue in the winter light.
My studs will stop me from sliding or falling over even as I walk down the steep slope where the woods come down onto Linnanherrantie.
We will read through the war news, wondering whether we should feel depressed or worried. We will mix a suitable mixture and wonder where the world will end up.
