Fabindia, 16:27

A couple of years before the pandemic Fabindia opened a branch in Kovalam. It occupies an old house, standing back from the road, right next door to the beer shop on Beach Road.

We have bought quite a few things from there, from towels and bowls, to furniture. They also stock some interesting instant soups, as well as soaps and teas.

The last couple of times that we have passed it, on the way to the beach, it has looked very closed. It didn’t look closed for the day, because the paths had leaves strewn all over them. Oh well, we said: another casualty of Covid-19.

This time, when we passed, the leaves had gone and the door stood open. We walked in and chatted. It turns out that the single staff member left during the pandemic period had finally caught Covid and had isolated for ten days. Now he had returned.

The leaves, it seems, had accumulated in a much shorter time than I would have thought possible.

While Irma chats I take some photographs of the clothes racks.
