Kochi, 13:26

It took about six hours to drive to Kochi. This, however, included a breakfast stop at a hotel where the staff looked as though they had not seen a customer in months. We sat in a very posh breakfast room on our own learning what items on the menu we could not have. In the end I had french toast with lashings of honey and some unpleasant not–quite–chai tea.

We have stopped at the edge of Jewtown, and we walk in to look for some specific things for the house. I look around and yake a series of photographs.

About two thirds of the shops and restaurants have closed. We find the eccentric little art gallery where we bought some paintings the last time we came, and buy some more: two by the same artist as previously.

In the evening we will have a great deal of difficulty finding somewhere to eat. We will end up at the Old Harbour Hotel, which we had wanted to eat in earlier, back when the crowds used to keep us away.
