Two or more for Christmas

I saw two pop videos today, both of which came from reading through the various feeds I have squirrelled away in Feedly.

The first brings Ed Sheeran and Elton John together for a guaranteed Christmas smash, as they don’t say anymore. It sounds like everything you can think of in an Christmas song rolled into one, including the post-Band Aid concern that most other attempts skip. “I know there’s been pain this year, but it’s time to let it go,” Sheeran sings, and then they both thoughtfully add: “While we’re here, can we all spare a thought for the ones who have gone?”

Yes we jolly well can.

The song, for want of a better title, or as an ackowledgement that it contains everything you could possibly stuff in, goes by the simple title of Merry Christmas

The other video comes courtesy of Arca, known to her mother as Alejandra Ghersi Rodriguez. It comes from one or other of the four new albums she has just released, titled KICK ii, KicK iii, kick iiii and kiCK iiiii. These, it goes without saying, serve as a possibly overstuffed follow up to her 2020 Grammy nominated album KiCK i.

The song Prada/rakata features on KICK ii, I think.

Elton John, I feel certain, would like both songs, and both videos.
