Takkahuone, 15:23

I have decided that I will purchase a new laptop during the week long festivity of consumption that Black Friday has become. Apparently this idea started in 1952, or some time around then, in the USA. It signified the first Friday of shopping after Thanksgiving but didn’t become a major event in the shopping calendar until after the internet woke up to dominate our world.

In the last few years it has spread to Finland where it has, in effect, become Black Friday Week. Personally I wait in wild anticipation for Black Friday Week Month.

Finding the ideal computer to buy proved tricky. Everyone has slightly different offers on slightly different models of more or less identical bits of plastic.

I end up going to Power to discover that they have very little in stock of what their website claims they have in stock. I then go to Gigantti where I find something that seems better than I had hoped to get from Power. The only problem: they don’t have it in stock, although they can get me one at the beginning of December.

Later, back at the house, I consult the magic starfish in the takkahuone, and it tells me that I should have ordered it there and then. I resolve to return tomorrow.
