I go for a long weekend walk and start by heading down the road and turning left at Alepa. As I approach the corner I notice the fruit stall and remember that I read that it closes today. Two women stand inside it. One of them has a phone to her ear while the other one attempts to talk to her. Nobody buys fruit.

Later I will go to the library to return a book and a CD and to get another book out. The process of getting to Iceland has grown exceedingly complicated and so, while there, we will print out the result of yesterday’s covid test (negative of course) at Stoa so I can show it when I land in Reykjavik.

Later we will have a perfect evening which will include grilling cheese on the George Foreman grill and packing a suitcase and a rucksack.
