Itis, 14:10
Sometime on Sunday I became aware of an aching tooth. Yesterday I became very aware of it and ate a few paracetamol. I made an appointment to see Tero at the first available opportunity.
Unfortunately he now only works in Helsinki on Fridays. This morning I decided that I did not want to wait another three days gobbling painkillers. I made another appointment with someone else at Oral, for 14:30 this afternoon.
I spend the morning with Tomas listening to the second half of the midway presentations from the students doing the Innovations course. Innovative? Some yes, some not so much. Most not so much, in fact.
I then had a tutorial and left the house for Itis, to discover that the whole morning had taken the form of a major snow storm. The snow lay at least 20cm deep.
I get to Itis early, not wanting to get there late, and so I wander around the almost deserted mall. I see a robot vacuum cleaner apparently operating on its own. I look around and see a man in the distance operating it from a tablet. I confirm this when he walks up to check something.
When I get to the dentist, Antti Saarinen, he will decide the fracture on my tooth deserves a good extraction and 15 minutes letter I will leave with one tooth less than I arrived.
On the way home I will wonder if Tero would have set about saving it. Not, I will think, that I have much need to worry about that now.
